Thats a great combo! I have two set up the same. A topper model 58 in 12g and a topper 88 in 20g. My dad gave me the 20 in 1982, my mom made the same green duck sleeve, I still use today. I think new in 82 it was $79 at kmart. About two yrs ago I picked up the 12 used but pristine for $169, still a great deal. Thx for sharing.

the most important thing we learned here is that a fine apex allows the user to maintain his edge with just a fine ceramic rod as demonstrated by william. Ive been aware that aeb-l is a great steel being able to get a very fine apex tough enough to perform chores confidently but this is the first time seeing it heat treated to 62 hrc and keeping up with magnacut. great video!

the problem here is both steels are identically the same hrc and geometry so William might have carpal tunnel before neither knives get dull

Give me a hand made tool, where I can physically talk to the designer, grinder, heat treater, handle maker, and tester all in one, over ANY mass produced knife ANY day! WC Knives blow anything else I’ve tried out of the water. I own several. When I’ve ever had a question or concern I’ve been able to talk directly with William and he is courteous and helpful and stands behind his work. I appeciate the info on angles. WorkSharp owners, including myself, need to know this. I have never used a WorkSharp on a WC knife because you told me the angles. Know the angle or reprofile.

It's sad that you had to make this video. All tools fail over time, even without abuse. I blame Esee for this, because everyone expects all knives to be a one time purchase. Knife warranties should be limited to use and documentation. That's hard to determine, but we need to get back to reality.

I've never read this but honestly, I don't need to I know your knives are built right and I only use my knife to cut. I have a hatchet always with me when I'm out camping, hunting, fishing, etc for splitting wood. Great Knives and I have quite a few of them and more coming. Thanks, Will.

So true test your plan out and make changes before power goes out so you know what you have works to power any medical devices and survival things like way to stay warm in wenter and somewhat cool in summer like portable fans etc.

Thank you for making the best knifes I’ve ever used. When I first got one of your knifes and used it I then became aware of all the thought and time that was put into the design on the handle and the blade!all the little curves and and angles/ flat spots and curves on the blade/ apex’s etc. if it’s over 1 inch I use an axe and most of your scandi part of the blade is approximately that, so it acts a a guide and and also a guide for sharpening angle sweet. I can only afford to get one a year but would rather save up and get something with great versatility than get something I consider inferior! So thank you for thinking of these designs and making them!

I'll be leaving a positive review for the Sloyd knife alright! Today I used her to whittle on some stag for a Bowie handle. I own a couple other users in Magnacut but I don't think the manufacturers got such a good heat treatment, nor geometry even close. I remember one time you invited some limited suggestions and I impertinently suggested you make a one-off Wharncliffe or Lambsfoot whittler using an offcut of AEB-L, something like that. This is a very different knife in principle but somehow I feel like I got everything I could have hoped for and more, including an amendment on the profile, a steel upgrade and an avant garde geometry. Would you call it a compound grind on the final bevel? I can kind of see it both ways. I understand that the changing bevel width comes from the distal taper, the final bevel angle being constant. I don't know whether this technically constitutes a compound grind since there is no clearly defined transition. I'd like your input for my edification and probably a video looking at the knife at some point In line with an encouraging comment you left for me on one of my videos I have done as you suggested and continued to experiment with geometry , via knife and tool making. Today Captain Electro uploaded the first ever video review of one of my homemade knives, a very cool review with positive and negative feedback, overall fairly positive. A great occasion for me!
